Doesn't look as nice as mini munchies in the header but it'll have to do!

Berry Merry Mix!
Today i worked on a kitkat cake inspired by the one i saw at polar puffs and cakes! And here it is topped with slices of berry and aggregate fruits. (yea! raspberries and blackberries and blueberries and the like arent really berries man, but bananas are! How strange is the world when it comes to names.)Tuesday, December 14, 2010
Another Fruit Tart 1:12

The Art of the Tart 1:12
I am having a terrible headache now but still i am eager to post this new project i worked on for the later part of the day! It's a fruit tart! (The giant cake-sized kind that goes for $7.90 or so a piece at fruit paradise. Of course you can eat that one) I'm too poor to eat the real ones at fruit paradise so i've made my own little miniature!
It's sitting on a piece of round wooden cut-out. Got a whole bunch of them from daiso. I don't know what they're really for but they're perfect for this purpose! Daiso has close to everything!
And finally, the size. The life-sized fruit tarts are the same size as cakes, coming in 8 and 11 inches. This is a miniature of the 8-inch kind. The 1:12 scale should be 1.69cm. This little fella is just a little over 1.5cm so it pretty much fits the part!Making fruit tarts is so fun! The only part i dont like is that i have to make so many slices of fruit to lay on one tart! But thats all part of it so thou shalt bear with it and be happy with result afterwards.
Pink little Cakelets 1:12
Today's project was inspired by a cute little mini cake i saw when i happened to walk past Breadtalk! It was like a strawberry cheesecake with macaroons but i forgot the actual name. Anyway it had pink cream on top of a little round of cheesecake and macaroons stuck sideways into it (different from how i've done mine) and a strawberry to top it off. It was SOO cute i just had to make a miniature inspired by it!
My version comes with a raspberry on top and tiny tiny tiny little beads alternating with the macaroon shells served atop a transparent leaf-shaped plate (actually its a bead) with a sort of iridescent coating accompanied by a whipped cream and candy ribbon.
It comes in 3 versions, differing only in the ribbon(gold and white) and the tiny bead colour - silver, gold and red (meant to be christmas colours but go well for anything actually!)
Whole thing measures only a little more than 1cm! The macaroon shells barely make it to being 3mm across! This is my first attempt at making tiny macaroon shells and happy am i about how they turned out. (of course the first successful one calls for a mould for the rest!)
I had a bunch of ideas regarding how to display these (white display plate thing? piece of golden baking board?) But settled with this in the end and glued them on before i changed my mind any further! It seems to go well together but i'll probably make more of these little cakelets to be displayed in other ways!

Snowflakes Cupcakes 1:12

Icy cupcakes!! Yess!! Finally!! Cupcakes!!! I have so much trouble with cupcakes its painful just thinking of it. But today i have finally made some cupcakes with the desired creamy tops i've been trying to achieve for millions of years. YES. I made my own icing tip out of clay to fit the size and the number of points i wanted and was so happy when it actually worked! Sadly it has died. It cracked and i threw it away already so no picture. But another one shall take its place! Self-made is better than paying $1.70(walao very expensive leh..) for every icing tip i need!!
I actually made a plate to go with them but it doesn't seem to fit so well so i'll probably make a different one.
It's still on the christmassy theme. Very snowy and icy. I'm quite proud of my snowflake actually. Cuz it does look like one! Doesnt it? Well at least i think so... The tiny little star is not so perfect but it shall be next time!! I also made a mould for my cupcake bottoms and it works (yay!) so the bottoms will not be such a torture either! I am much liking moulds.
And this was alllll i achieved for the day. Because i spent half the time making toppings first before making creams cuz i use air drying clay for the creams. If they dry up i cant stick the toppings on so one has to come before the other. I didnt even use 97.5943% of the toppings i made today -.- nvm next time next time.
The picture with the ruler didnt get saved! for some reason. anw these are 0.8cm when viewed from the top. VERY healthy. if they were edible.

Santa needs to stay awake 1:12
Today i made a mug to match the whipped cream topped with rainbow shavings made yesterday to make a little cappuccino~ Also snowflake cookies in pastel blue and white were on the agenda for the day! Wanted to make these since Monday but only had time to do it today. It was a torture making those 8 pointed star cookies manually at first (being only 0.6cm in diameter) but i decided to make a mould which helped me greatly!
I used green clay. It became black after emerging from the oven :X Extremely helpful despite how it looks!
This is for Santa when he visits cuz he needs to stay up all night delivering presents and milk just wont keep him alert enough! I'm sure he'll like a creamy cup of warm homemade cappuccino before he proceeds on his way to the next 50 million homes...A little painting was involved and this needs much improvement!
I cant decide whether to start my posts with the final product, or end the post with it. Which do you think has a better effect?

Tempting Tempura 1:12 scale
This blog was created specially for my miniatures! (Mostly food) I make 'em out of polymer clay (sculpey or fimo whichever im nearer to when i'm out) and i dont have many special tools so i mostly use my trusty (almost rusty) old mini penknife and random other things i find around the house. Maybe I should post my happy little tools~ next time cuz im currently lazy.
The first post shall present today's tedious tempura product! I only made 9 tempura for the whole evening from 5 plus until 930pm... but they evolved along the way and i'm happy! yay

The EVOLUTION process
The final generation tempura! Slim and very prawn-y tails! glued onto a rectangular plate and empty sauce bowl in the blur. Special background for end product ahaha.I wish they were perfect but admittedly there are still many areas to improve on... if i could just make the crisps more crisp... but that will be a project for another day! As of now i'm happy enough with the result C:
Notes: for tempura crisps to be more crisp - bake beige before coating?
